How Charge OnSite built a charger-agnostic EV charging platform — and stopped depending on anyone else's.
ChargeOnSite is a turnkey EV charging provider for commercial and multifamily real estate, trusted by brands like Greystar and Cushman & Wakefield.
They're a real-estate company — not a software company — so when they chose to own their charging platform instead of renting a white-label one, 6sense HQ became their engineering team.

ChargeOnSite didn't start with software. They started with a problem most EV charging operators know well: the tools you can rent don't scale with you.
Early on, their charging depended on a single local hardware vendor — a relationship that quietly decided which chargers they could and couldn't deploy. The obvious alternative was a white-label CSMS. And for 10–20 chargers, that works fine. But ChargeOnSite was building toward thousands. At that scale, the white-label model turns against you
The bill balloons
Per-charger licensing that's cheap at 20 units is punishing at 2,000.
You're locked in for 3–5 years
And every change you request waits in the same queue as every other customer's.
You own nothing.
If they double the price, you pay it or pay for a costly migration of your data to a platform you don't know.

6sense HQ engineered ChargeOnSite's platform end to end — the system that now runs the whole operation, not a piece of it:
A charger-agnostic core
connect, test, and run any charger brand, so hardware choice is never dictated by the software. 20+ brands and counting.
Grid & energy management
balancing and controlling load across every site.
Full charging-session handling
from plug-in to payment, monitored in real time.
Billing and accounting
payments through Stripe, flowing automatically into Zoho for accounting via API.
Driver app, property-owner admin, and customer support
one branded experience for every side of the network.
This work started in 2022 — before AI-assisted development, and before EV charging integration was something you could look up. There was almost no public documentation on OCPP, charger communication, or hardware behavior to build against.
We engineered the integrations from scratch and worked out the solutions ourselves, because the knowledge base to copy from simply didn't exist yet.
We onboarded OCPP-compliant and non-compliant chargers on the same platform — two entirely different modes of operation — while giving drivers one seamless experience either way. Getting a non-compliant charger to behave like a compliant one, invisibly, is the part most teams can't do.
We've kept a 2022-era platform current through the AI era — maintaining and evolving it in place, rather than forcing a rebuild.

A real-estate-first company with no software of its own now runs its entire charging network — grid, sessions, billing, and support — on a platform it fully owns, able to onboard any charger brand on the market.
Charger-agnostic for good — ChargeOnSite can onboard any hardware brand, never blocked by a vendor relationship.
Built to scale to thousands of chargers without per-unit license bills or a lock-in clause.
They own the platform and the data — no forced price hikes, no migration risk, no waiting in a vendor's change queue.
One branded network across different locations, serving 15,000+ sessions — the platform national real-estate brands like Greystar and Cushman & Wakefield rely on.
